Her sweet little girls fill my heart with so much happiness — and so much hope for our future. There is something about watching children grow, laugh, and love so purely that brings everything into focus.
It reminds you what really matters.
Every night, my niece and her husband read a book and share a devotional with the girls. It’s part of their rhythm. Their foundation. Their intention.
On our last night together, it was late. They read the book but skipped the devotional.
That’s when the four-year-old looked up and said,
“We haven’t done our devotional.”
Her mom gently replied, “It’s late. We’ll do it tomorrow.”
And that precious little voice asked:
“Do we not have time for Jesus?”
Let that sink in.
Do we not have time?
How often do we say we’re too busy?
Too tired?
Too overwhelmed?
At 64 years old, I am deeply aware that I am living on what I call “bonus time.” Every year feels like a gift. I am beyond grateful that I can still sit on the floor with little ones… and get back up again.
(And yes — thank you to Notch 8 Athletics for helping me keep that promise! I’m planning on climbing trees at 103 😉.)
When I returned home, my house was decorated. A meal was waiting. My family had prepared it all. I felt celebrated. I felt seen. I felt loved.
I am one blessed woman.
But the question still lingers:
Do we make time for what matters most?
Not just in theory.
Not just when it’s convenient.
But in the small, daily moments that shape who we become.
Children have a way of cutting through distraction.
They remind us that what we prioritize teaches more than what we preach.
This season of my life has taught me something simple but powerful:
Time is not something we “find.”
It is something we choose.
May we choose well.
May we build rhythms that reflect our values.
May we never be too busy for the things that anchor our souls.
Thank you, God, for my life.
Shine on my family and friends.
And may we always make time for what matters most.
